freemind + wikipedia = WikiMindMap

Some clever folks have combined freemind with wikipedia. The result is quite interesting from a learning perspective. For this example I’ve looked up appreciative inquiry on the english wikipedia.

Still: The system needs more work - at least more branches - Ideally I want something more like this (from Maps of Science):

Pertainig to map of science, their network analysis of the different universities strengths is very interesting: Harvard has a very broad focus:

There is one loosely linked network that covers over two-thirds of the nodes. The network has no center. There are dispersed networks dealing with a broad set of topics in medicine (heart disease, cancer, t-cells) and the social sciences (mostly in mental health issues).

Whereas MIT also covers a lot of different topics, but from a much more concentrated field:

On the far left of the diagram there is a major network strength in computer science (~10:00) which branches out into models of the eye, speech, hearing, and intelligence.

At the top of the diagram are network strengths in physics, dealing with nuclear physics (quarks) and the application of photonic lasers.
