google cuts back on open source?
september 10th, 2009
One of the reasons why I want to own google stocks, and whole heartedly support google, is their effort to help the open source movement. Summers of code etc. are all good things. But lately i’ve been disappointed by two things:
- The native android gmail app supports microsoft office documents (via quickoffice) but not the odf - used by openoffice (and google docs!) - That sucks big time.
- Second disappointment: I am beginning to use midori more and more. But gmail wont support this kool open source browser - dispite the fact that it’s one of the few to flawlessly pass the acid3 test.
I really hope google will soon adress theese issues.
